Hej,
I might have a possibility to get my hands on aquatic plants from Sulawesi and would like to know if there is an interest for these plants here in Sweden ? For example:
Eriocaulon cinereum
Chara SP Fragilis (Red cherry water plant)
Chara SP Fragilis (Mini red cherry water plant)
Lymnocharus sp. (Sulawesi plant)
Spongegilla sp.
Spongegilla lacustris
Plus a lot of different Sulawesi moss.
Since the handling costs and customs are so high, it would only be worth getting them if I know that people are actually interested in getting their hands on these rarities. So, would anyone be interested ?
(sorry for the english but my written swedish sucks )
Interested in Sulawesi plants ?

Look at the plants and sponge section. Might be loading a bit slow.

I have to point out that Chara fragilis is not very uncommon in hard and alkaline water in Sweden, it's not very likely to grow well and be good looking in a typical planted tank. I might just save and try some Chara i an aquarium next time it irritates me by getting caught on the hooks of my fishing lure.
Spongegilla is not even a name, the correct name is Spongilla, and Spongilla lacustris is also not very uncommon in Swedish waters,
I googled Lymnocharis, and every hit could be traced or suspected to trace back to the site you linked to, the name is either totally made up, or just a misspelling, perhaps they meant Limnocharis, I wouldn't be surprised if the picture shows seedlings of Limnocharis flava, which is common over large parts of the world, an invasive weed even.
Eriocaulon cinereum can be bought via a number of web shops and ebay now and then, for a few €, £ or $, with a reasonable shipping cost when divided with other really interesting plants. Haven't that species even been sold here on plantswap?
About mosses, many of the species sold for a lot of money initially are cosmopolitan species, many can be found in the nearest Swedish forest or suitable lake, depending on if it's a mainly terrestrial or aquatic species. Any moss from that very unscientific web site has a very low value as a "rare species", due to the uncertainty
Generally with the Sulawesi species, regardless if it's a algae, higher plant, shrimp, sponge and so on, long time true success in aquarium is very rare.

Helt enig. Men jag vill testa!! Knäckte kardinalräkorna, och har spridit dem till fler. Somliga har klarat dem bra, andra med mindre bra resultat. Klart känsliga saker. Däremot misslyckades jag med Goldflake och Orchid. Tror dock det mest handlade om transporten (allt från Sulawesi verkar känsligt för transport).Erik... skrev:Generally with the Sulawesi species, regardless if it's a algae, higher plant, shrimp, sponge and so on, long time true success in aquarium is very rare.
Högst upp på önskelistan för växter står Ottelia mesanterium (eller liknande namn). Kasselman skriver om den i sin nya bok, och den verkar enligt henne näst intill omöjlig. Men i allafall. Av de bilder jag sett därifrån så är den så schysst att den är väl värd ett försök. Mer på allvar, liksom. Eriocaulon verkar också vara trevliga växter, ville gärna testa dem också.
Hilsen,
